Dermatology is the branch of medicine that deals with the largest organ of the body, the skin. The skin, in addition to being affected by specific diseases, often reflects the integrity or otherwise of internal organ systems. The coat and skin of our animals are one of the parts with which we have the most direct contact and which we can observe daily.

Dermatological diseases can become very disabling for dogs and cats because they are often associated with intense itching and profound discomfort. They require often prolonged therapies especially if underestimated or not treated in a timely and specific manner.

The veterinary dermatologist will be able to diagnose the presence of parasites even if not visible externally, to identify hormonal diseases or of other origin responsible for skin symptoms, possible food allergies or lesions indicative of tumours.
