The significant prevalence of congenital heart diseases in dogs has led to great interest in these conditions by many veterinary cardiologists, anatomical pathologists, and geneticists.

Cardiology has assumed an important role in companion animal medicine in recent years. Today, all heart diseases can be diagnosed early and appropriately treated, thanks to new non-invasive diagnostic techniques such as echocardiography-Doppler, electrocardiography, and Holter monitoring. Among these, echocardiography holds a prominent place.

Echocardiographic examination is a painless, repeatable method, feasible anywhere in relatively short times, thus becoming an irreplaceable aid for the diagnostic process and clinical evaluation over time of the cardiac patient.

Having an early diagnosis of a congenital heart disease can mean saving the life of our animal and allowing it a long and normal existence. Knowing that our animal, now a bit older, has a cardiac functional defect will allow us to implement appropriate nutritional and exercise measures for its health condition.
